Janelle A. Williams- Editor-in-Chief

Janelle A. Williams, Editor-in-Chief at BlackCollegeView.com, is a senior print journalism major and history minor from Baltimore, Maryland.  Her interest in and dedication to journalism is reflected in the varying experiences she has gained during her tenure at Howard University.  This past summer, the 21-year-old worked as an American Society of Magazine Editors intern at Reader’s Digest Magazine where she completed writing, editing, research and fact-checking assignments. 

 

Last school year, she worked as Managing Editor at BlackCollegeView.com, staff writer at the Bison Yearbook and as a contributor at many publications including Howard’s Hilltop, the District Chronicles, and Soulstice Magazine.  Janelle has also worked as a special correspondent for the National Newspaper Publishers Association, which gave her publishing opportunities in African American newspapers nationwide. 

 

She currently holds membership in Howard University’s Cover 2 Cover Magazine Group, where she holds the positions of Vice President and Conference Co-Chair, HU Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society, the Society of Professional Journalists, Golden Key International Honor Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. 

 

In her near future, Janelle plans to attend film school in order to expand her journalistic skills and law school to work as an attorney for a publishing company.  Ten years from now, Janelle sees herself working as a journalist, author, while producing documentaries in her spare time.
