Kamille D. Whittaker, Life Writer

For Kamille D. Whittaker, life truly begins after graduation in May 2005. Until then, the senior print journalism major and political science minor is anxious to document life’s most important events and trivial afterthoughts for the world, and reveal all that Howard University has taught her.

Hailing from Riverside, Southern California, Kamille has gained invaluable knowledge and experience in and out of the classroom cumulating with her current internship with The Washington Post and Newsweek Interactive.

Her internships at The Black Voice News Newspaper, Heldref Publications, and Arlington County Government have taught Kamille the importance of taking direction, polishing her skills, and being a part of a team.

Her contributions to campus publications such as The Hilltop, District Chronicles and BlackCollegeView.com have given her opportunities to explore personal areas of interest; and as Editor-in-Chief of Howard’s Redefined magazine, Kamille has learned to lead.

While publishing her own magazine is her ultimate career aspiration, Kamille plans to supplement her journalistic knowledge with a graduate degree in political science and eventually a law degree.
