Exhibit on display in Washington at ARTECHOUSE. T
WASHINGTON--Combining multiple art forms such as science, math, and technology, the exhibit, Parallel Universe, is currently available for viewings at the Downtown Washington, D.C. ARTECHOUSE. The exhibit is available until Mar. 4, 2018, offering visitors a sensory overloading experience.
"From an endless vortex of corkscrew-shaped fractals one minute to a net-like membrane to noodle-like coils the next, the seamless transformations exercise a hypnotic hold—glance away momentarily and you’ll miss one,” wrote the Architect’s Newspaper in regards to the exhibit.
Parallel Universe is an immersive, art experience that uses uniquely created projections, light installations, science methods, and digital media to give viewers a present day simulation of an actual “parallel universe.”
Created by the internationally acclaimed Turkish art studio called Ouchhh, Parallel Universe consists of four installations with one of the four being a collaboration with ARTECHOUSE.
The first and biggest installation that the visitors encounter is the iOTA. A live data sculpture that is a 270 degree mapped projection on three large over-sized walls (130 feet long and 24 feet high). The projection is a visual representation of the 14 minute soundtrack playing on the speakers. The 14 minute track was created first by Audiofil and then digitally animated by Ouchhh to match and demonstrate every sound in the track that plays on a loop.
“We believe that technology has played a significant role in the world of art since the 1970’s and today we’re living in the age of new renaissance where technology has become a revolutionary tool for artists,” said Sandro, Artistic Director of ARTECHOUSE as stated on the ARTECHOUSE website.
ARTECHOUSE has the first Augmented Reality cocktail bar in America. It offers visitors an exclusive opportunity to see their cocktails (currently inspired by the Parallel Universe installations) to be seen with multiple digital components through their Augmented Reality app that can be downloaded prior to visiting the digital art gallery.
ARTECHOUSE opened the innovative art space in June 2017 to showcase emerging, futuristic art installations done by international and local artists on a large scale. Their vision is to bring abnormal art theories and methods together to create immersive art experiences for people of all ages.
