More than 3,000 people attended fashions shows sponsored by DC Fashion Week. Executive director and founder Ean Williams said that as Washington continues to grow as a fashion destination, the number of people seeking to attend shows will increase as well. “We were forced to turn away 200 people from one of the shows because the room had reached capacity,” Williams said. “We are anticipating that attendance at shows and events sponsored by DC Fashion Week will continue to grow in leaps and bounds.” This year DC Fashion Week expanded by adding more corporate sponsors, including a partnership with the World Bank. Highlights of the week were the first show dedicated entirely to menswear and a display of local designs during the International Couture Show. High profile guests included actor Trey Chaney of the HBO series The Wire and Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes. The next DC Fashion Week will be held Sept. 23 to 30. “The entire week was a huge success and we expect the next DC Fashion Week to be bigger and better,” Williams said. “We’ve got some big surprises planned.”
