From Howard University to the White House and Beyond: NewsVision Spring ’24 Cohort Newscast

By the Spring ’24 NewsVision “XXCeptional 20” Cohort

When it comes to the community, the NewsVision Spring ’24 cohort is focused, fair and intentional about sharing the stories that matter to you. The senior broadcast journalism capstone at Howard University takes a multimedia approach to stories ranging from crime to caregiving, to culture and sustainable fashion. Being in the nation’s capital, they have the opportunity to report from The White House and Capitol Hill. The collegiate journalists and media professionals in the six-credit capstone with Associate Professor Jennifer Thomas, self-produced every story and served in all roles in front of and behind the camera. The program was recorded at WHUT, the PBS affiliate owned and operated by Howard University. The collegiate journalists honed their production and editorial skills at Studio A in “the Met” building in the Cathy Hughes School of Communications. The capstone course is a culmination of the tutelage by professors in the Dept. of Media, Journalism and Film.
