Nick and Jessica Call it Quits

The former “Newlyweds’ stars recently confirmed to Us Weekly about their decision to split. “After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,” they told the magazine in a joint statement.

”This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time,” the couple told Us Weekly.

Rumors have been swirling for months about whether or not Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson would end their marriage of three years.

The couple had been spotted, miles apart without their wedding rings on several important occasions like Ashlee Simpson’s 21st birthday. Despite the breakup allegations, their publicists adamantly denied any marriage trouble claims.

Nick Lachey was reportedly partying without Simpson and his wedding ring and flirting a bit too much for uncomfortable spectators. Simpson was rumored to have been seeing her “Dukes of Hazard” co-star, Johnny Knoxville. Many people could see it coming from miles away, but the confirmation is still a shocker to adoring fans.

The former nuptials were also allegedly apart on their third wedding anniversary on October 26 and Lachey’s recent birthday. I guess Jessica Simpson used her boots for walking, away from Nick Lachey that is.

When I look at celebrity couples I can’t help but to feel a bit of sympathy for them. Though they have the limelight, the money, the glitz and glam, they also bear the burden of pretending and dealing with their love affairs publicly.

Look how long it took Beyonce and Jay to actually acknowledge their relationship. It was also difficult to watch Jennifer Anniston salvage her pride as her marriage with Brad Pitt crumbled before everyone’s eyes.

People are always counting down the days to A-lister couple breakups as though there is nothing better to think about. I know it comes with the territory, but I can’t imagine the pain and embarrassment of reading about your struggles in the daily news.

For that reason, I am thankful to lead a regular private life. Our eyes glaze over as we watch “The Fabulous Life” of everyone but ourselves. We look at the cars, the watches and the expensive trips without taking into account the hefty emotional price tag celebrities have. We may not be rolling in a Maybach, but we can enjoy the simple things in life, free of the microscope.
