Southern Rapper Pimp C Found Dead

Rapper Pimp C, born Chad Butler, was found dead in his hotel room Tuesday morning, according to a TMZ report.

After answering a 911 call, L.A. County Fire discovered Butler dead in his sixth floor room in the Mondrian Hotel.

33-year-old Butler was in the L.A. area following a performance with Too Short at the “House of Blues” a few days earlier.

Butler, better known as Pimp C, was a member of the rap pairing UGK (Underground Kings) along with rapper Bun B.

Pimp C, regarded as a southern rap pioneer may be known lending his talents to Jay-Z’s Grammy award winning “Big Pimpin” or more recently for UGK’s hit single “International Player’s Anthem (I Choose You)” featuring Outkast.

TMZ reports that Capt. Ed Winter of the L.A. County Coroner’s office stated that Pimp C died of natural causes. According to Winter there were no drugs on his person nor was there any drug paraphernalia in his hotel room.

Pimp C is survived by his wife and three children. His mother, Weslyn Monroe spoke to KFDM News about the shock of her son’s untimely death. “Actually, we have very little idea of what happened. C’s business manager found his body in his hotel room in Los Angeles and we know he died in his sleep. Past that, we don’t know anything.”
