With so much news and misinformation permeating the digital and legacy media landscape, it’s difficult for consumers to know what’s real and what’s not. Even more crucial are those in Black communities whose stories are oftentimes left untold or underrepresented. Enter this year’s Howard University Spring 2026 NewsVision Capstone Cohort, “The Pristine Seventeen.”

These broadcast journalism students, under the direction of Assoc. Professor Jennifer Thomas has covered stories from national news to healthcare to Howard University. All of their assignments had a similar goal– to cover the culture. We hope you enjoy our final capstone project, which was recorded at WHUT, the nation’s only HBCU-owned PBS affiliate.

NewsVision students collaborate with HU News Service, a student-operated digital service in the Dept of Media, Journalism, and Film at Howard University. The students assumed all roles in front of, behind, and in the control room.
