The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced Friday that the lottery for D.C. summer camps opened.
Parents have until March 3 to enter their children for a chance to participate.
All students aged 3-13 are eligible for entry.
“Every year, DPR summer camps give thousands of kids across D.C. a chance to make new friends, learn new skills and have fun in a safe and enriching environment,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a statement. “We encourage families to explore the wide variety of camps available and enter the lottery so their children can enjoy a summer full of adventure, creativity and learning.”
Parents of selected children will be notified on March 4.
Lottery assistance is available at DPR headquarters every day, except Sunday, starting Feb. 28.
“With a wide array of camps — from STEM and performing arts to sports and outdoor adventures — there’s something for every child,” DPR director Thennie Freeman stated. “We encourage families to review the options and enter the registration lottery so their child can enjoy a fun and enriching summer with DPR.”
Summer camps include:
- Little Explorers (Ages 3-5)
- Discovery Camp (Ages 6-10)
- Multi-Sport Camp (Ages 8-13)
- Nothing But Net Camp (Ages 8-13)
- Cheer-nastics Camp (Ages 8-12)
- Aqua Day Camp (Ages 6-13)
- Future EGOT Performing Arts Camp (Ages 6-10)
Once the lottery reaches capacity, a waitlist will be implemented.
