Empower Rideshare App Sparks Intense Protest At Howard University Charter Day

Howard University celebrated its 158th Charter Day at Cramton Auditorium, with Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser delivering the convocation address. However, just outside of the celebration, a group of protesters gathered to voice their advocacy and opposition to the Mayor’s controversial push to ban the Empower Rideshare App in the District. The app allows drivers to set their own rate, and in turn, allows passengers to request their own drivers.
