Howard University students joined other institutions in the nation’s capital in a walk-out on Tuesday, September 9. Chanting “free DC” and “free Howard,” about 100 students gathered at the flag pole on the Yard, an iconic location for student protest at the Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The students were protesting the Trump administration’s monthlong federal takeover of Washington, DC., including the deployment of the National Guard. The deployment is expected to end on Wednesday, September 10. NewsVision reporter Reinah McNeil captured the scene from campus.
